We had some recent guests to No.fifty6 whose trip to The Somme had been a long time in the planning. Geoff Tilley and Naomi Stokes from Bunbury, Western Australia, knew that they had a special family connection to The Somme and set about planning their trip that would culminate with them taking part in the Anzac Day commemorations this year. The plans for their trip saw them visit Canberra and meet with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to help piece together a special commemoration as part of the Dawn Service on Anzac Day. The final part of their trip was to be in France for Anzac Day.

My Act of Remembrance - Rees Aged 7 Many things inspire us at No.fifty6 – the history, landscape, nature, people - but it was a 7 year old and his heartfelt acts of remembrance which have left a lasting impression on us recently.
In April we welcomed 3 generations of the Harker family to No.fifty6. Grandad Jim and dad Mark had stayed with us before, but this was 7 year old Rees’ first visit to The Somme.
